Longest Lunar Eclipse Will Be Taking Part On July 26…As a Blood Moon

Longest Lunar Eclipse Will Be Taking Part On July 26...As a Blood Moon

If things couldn’t get any worse.

The longest lunar eclipse of the century will take part on July 27, lasting almost two-hours. Furthermore, the Eclipse will rise upon the distant skies and be visible to those living in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, as a Blood Moon. However, the bazaar Blood Moon won’t be of sight to those living in North America—in places such as Canada and the United States. Stargazers, moreover, who live in the United Kingdom have the pleasure of witnessing this event, as it will be rising over the horizon in Earth’s shadow around 8:50 PM (BST), over London. The next time this event will rise over the horizon will be in the next eighty-two-years.

The exact times for which the Blood Moon will appear might vary by a few minutes between specific locations.

According to Dr. Noah Petro of the Goddard Space Flight Center, he stated that the Moon can “either graze through the cone, or go right through the middle. That gets a longer-duration eclipse.” He further stated, “This time, the moon is passing closer to the centre of that cone, and it’s therefore a little bit longer than the eclipse we had back in January. The moon can either graze through the cone, or go right through the middle.”

And this is just the beginning. The moon will be at its farthest orbital point from Earth. This meaning that it will take slightly longer to escape the umbra.

Certainly, this Lunar Eclipse will be splendid to all stargazers from Europe, to South America, stated to the fact that it’s not only a Lunar Eclipse, or that it’s the longest of the century, but of its hot, deep red colour—which will be a baffling event to watch, lasting one hour, forty-three minutes.

Fast Food Giant KFC Planning to Serve “Veggie-Chicken” By Next Year

KFC, one of the most famous fast food chains on earth, are preparing to fry a brand new set on their menus in the UK – and this time it’s vegan!

As the Brits enroll in a completely new diet without animal products, Fast Food chains like Pizza Hut and McDonald’s buckle up for “brand-new” customers in the United Kingdom.

Now KFC decided to jump on the wagon for a little stroll down vegan lane.

The fast food giant – apart from Subway, McDonald’s and Burger King – plans to roll out their new item in their restaurants, possibly by next year. However, KFC assures fast food eaters that the fake/imitation-meat will still be coated in Colonel Sanders’s famous seasonings, containing 11 herbs and spices.

According to a study by NHS stats, more than one in four adults in the UK are obese. Due to this study, KFC plans to cut calories by a sum of 20%, per serving over the next 7 to 8 years. A Big Daddy Meal from KFC has 1,430 calories; more than 60% of a male adult’s recommended daily intake of calories; and 80% for a female adult.

The chain stated that the new item will be offering “the great taste of KFC to new and existing customers who are changing their dining habits.”

Also, KFC insists the new veggie chicken will be healthier to that of their other items on the menu, for which aren’t vegetarian.

As of yet, however, KFC has not given any details on the calorie range of their new item. And if they don’t, we’ll just have to find out ourselves.

Say Farewell to Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, Or…

Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is perhaps one of the most tremendous and iconic features in our Solar System. Not to mention the fact that the planet itself is the largest in our Solar System. This massive cyclone has been swirling around Jupiter for so long we don’t know exactly when it first began to swirl. Nowadays, it’s so taken for granted—especially for those that aren’t into Astronomy and Cosmology. However, the storm on this great planet is, unfortunately, slowly dying away. And the latest data from the Juno Spacecraft, recovered from Scientists at NASA, suggests that it might actually ‘be gone within our lifetimes’. In a new research conducted and released by Scientists at NASA suggests that it’s actually changing in shape, as well as in colour—as it enters its twilight years.

Jupiter’s latest images have revealed some surprising changes to the Great Red Spot. The storm is in fact now smaller in diameter, than that of the previous set of photographs released. The swirling winds are reaching a higher altitude into the planet’s atmosphere than before; thus stretching the storm taller as it swirls upward. At the same time, its iconic crimson hue is becoming more orange, probable as a result of the highest gasses being exposed to ultra-violet radiation.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that both Jupiter and its Great Red Spot aren’t great. It can still swallow the entire Earth thoroughly. Yet the Great Red Spot is definitely less impressive that it once was when Astronomers first discovered it. And as NASA notes, a century and a half ago it, the Great Red Spot, was so wide that you could fit four (Planet) Earths inside of its footprint (clearly losing a lot of steam, in my case).

‘Its north-south colour asymmetry has decreased, and the dark core has become smaller,’ the researchers wrote. ‘Internal velocities have decreased on its east and west edges, and decreased on the north and south, resulting in decreased relative vorticity and circulation. The GRS’s colour changes from 2014 to 2017 may be explained by changes in stretching vorticity or divergence acting to balance the decrease in relative vorticity.’

The observations of Jupiter stretch as far as the sixteen-sixties—which point to the presence of an entirely diverse storm that may have followed the Great Red Spot. The storm, before the Great Red Spot, is thought to have been the remains of a dying storm that utterly vanished long before modern imaging would have allowed it to be captured on film. And if the Great Red Spot certainly does sputter out within the next few decades, another great cyclone could always form in its wake—far in the future, from which we will see it.

Pizza Hut Puts Vegan Pies On Their Menus

In the modern world, many fast food restuarants sell cruelty-free dishes—to attract customers who don’t eat anything related to animals. Another chain in the list is Pizza Hut—who just announced on Thursday that the new vegan Pizza was to be added to their menu.  The pie is made out of a substitue cheese called “Violife”; they also have two extra substitutes called “Just like Cheddar” and “Just like Provolone”. However, there was a catch. The multi-million-dollar fast food chain decided to at first test the vegan dish before officially adding it to their menu—so it was up to the customers. They decided to test the dish at only one chain in England for two solid months; if the dish didn’t receive any thumbs up from the customers, the pie wouldn’t go up.

“After an amazing customer response to our vegan cheese trial earlier this year, we’re pleased to announce that the dairy-free, cruelty-free alternative will now be served in all of our restaurants nationwide and feature as a permanent fixture on our menus.” Announced Gareth Hopley, Head of Communications at Pizza Hut Restaurants Global, on a report by Metro UK.

Violife will cost an extra £1 to add to your pizza. Sadly—for now at least—it is only available in the UK; hopefully the U.S.—along with other countries—will adopt the new menu soon. There’s a lot of vegan dishes that are both healthy and delicious—yet don’t forget that if you go vegan, you can also save a life of an animal as well as your own—via healthy-eating (healthy-eating increases the possibility of living a long, health-quality life).
